Protecting your plumbing in the cold weather:

Ensure that all your pipes are properly lagged, and that loft insulation is adequate. If the water tank is close to the ceiling, leave a gap in the insulation to provide for some heat for the tank.

If you are away for any extended period, set your heating to come on at a minimum temperature twice a day. Remember that, generally, the coldest part of the day is just before dawn.

Cold weather means extra demand on the heating system. Ensure that boilers are serviced before the cold arrives.
